2nd Year Project, Rules

Ken Scale

Ken Scale is on of the oldest rules that has been applied in japan. I learned this one by research on Kenzo Tange's House. How Ken Scale works its incredible, its basic on human scale, that one ken could fit one person outspread and two people sit. Its basic on tatami too, where the owner arranged the tatami according to the people inside the house, and the function of the room.

Then we learned to developed it more on the real house, for client. Many changes has been made for this rule by me, the reason itself its the tatami. People around Indonesia rarely use that, and the occasion itself, its for winter in Japan. The last two diagram its how it developed for then it can be applied to many things, such as Leveling, Split, and Boundaries between the rooms. Ken Scale is really important if we talking about minimalism on the room, because by its form, we can precisely making room for what, for what occasion and for how much people will be there.
